Several people have been able to tell their story of foster care in a tender and moving fashion, leaving you to make of it what you will. Reverend Colwell has the ability to step back and view his experiences with an eye toward what happened and why, and to frame his message in terms other than “look at me and feel sorry.” His message has meaning for all the players in this system we call Child Welfare.

The following account of the Reverend Robert Colwell will no doubt take its place at the forefront of the foster care/adoption reform movement. Not a movement to destroy the good with the bad, but hopefully one that will call for the massive changes that will help us prevent the emotional, psychological, and often physical destruction of another generation of children.
